However, there were some shocking regional results with Cardiff opting for Turkey and Londoners loving their Beef whilst Scots were the only people to name Gammon as their ‘roast with the most’.
GRAVY TRAIN
Over 30,000 people across the country took part in Toby’s Great Roast Debate which also revealed that…
- Brits can’t live without Gravy
- We also love Yorkshire Puddings
- Cauliflower Cheese and Roasted Parsnips are the nation’s favourite veg
- 77% of voters loved roast potatoes the most
Roast potatoes may have been the winner but mashed potato got 12% of the vote and were particularly popular in the North.
VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE
- 50% of the families surveyed tuck in to a roast dinner once a week but in Wales 36% said they eat a roast dinner more than once a week – now that’s commitment!
- 83% admitted that everyone in the family wants different things from a roast dinner which can make it difficult to cook for all at home.
- Women cook the roast dinner in 73% of families and 91% of all cooks said they would rather eat out at a Toby Carvery than do a roast dinner at home.
Toby Carvery assistant brand manager Emily Albanese said: “The vote certainly highlighted some interesting results and it seems that not many people are keen on Leeks and Runner Beans! Everyone’s got a valid opinion, especially when it comes to what makes a perfect roast dinner and that’s why we launched the Great Roast Debate. Whatever your preference, we’ve got turkey, beef and gammon on offer all day, every day at Toby Carvery along with 8 freshly steamed and tasty vegetables plus all your favourite trimmings.”
